Guesswork has no place in serious rehabilitation or performance training. Our performance testing uses VALD technology to capture objective, repeatable data on strength, power, and movement quality — giving you and your physiotherapist a clear, measurable picture of progress instead of relying on subjective “does it feel okay” check-ins.
Why objective testing matters
Return-to-sport research is unambiguous: athletes who meet objective strength and performance criteria before returning to sport have dramatically lower re-injury rates than those who return based on time or subjective confidence alone. A strength symmetry benchmark of at least 90% between limbs is one of the most consistently cited markers in the research, and it’s simply not possible to assess accurately without proper testing equipment.
What we measure
- Strength symmetry — comparing left and right limb strength to identify residual deficits after injury
- Power and force output — relevant to jumping, sprinting, and change-of-direction sports
- Landing and movement mechanics — how well you control load and deceleration, a key factor in injury risk
- Progress over time — objective, repeatable data that shows genuine improvement, not just subjective impression
Why objective testing matters for you
- Removes subjective guesswork from return-to-sport decisions after injury
- Tracks strength symmetry and imbalances that can otherwise go unnoticed for years
- Benchmarks progress against your own baseline, not generic population norms
- Informs safer, more confident training and rehabilitation decisions at every stage
Who this is for
Whether you’re returning from injury, preparing for a season, or simply want data on where you stand, performance testing gives you and your physiotherapist the numbers to make confident decisions. It pairs naturally with our Injury Prevention Screening and ACL Rehabilitation services, and is a standard part of return-to-sport clearance across our sports physiotherapy programs.
