Lachy Gray

Director and Physiotherapist

Bachelor of Applied Science, Master of Physiotherapy Practice, ASCA Level One Strength and Conditioning Coach

I’ve always loved sport and played plenty of it growing up — footy, basketball, cricket, netball. You name it, I’ve probably played it at some point. This was my gateway into the world of physio and ultimately the reason I’ve ended up as one, after seeing local physio Shane Moloney for a host of injuries over the years. He helped kickstart my interest in human anatomy and the amazing things the body can do.

I’m a Rochy boy originally, growing up in the country before moving to Bendigo to finish my secondary studies at Bendigo Senior Secondary College before attending La Trobe University here in Bendigo. Studying physio had been decided early on before I’d even made the move to Bendigo — the opportunity to be almost like a mechanic for people in a sense, keeping them performing and functioning at their best and trying to figure out what’s wrong and how to fix it, is something I really enjoy the challenge of. Seeing the way our patients react and are so grateful for our help guiding them through that process and their recovery adds another layer of enjoyment and fulfilment for me.

Since graduating, I’ve worked across multiple roles in rural and metro settings across both hospitals and private practices. I started Olympus in April 2024 after moving home to Bendigo from Melbourne. Since starting Olympus, the journey has been fast paced — we’ve grown from just myself in a little office in Kennington to a growing team working alongside other local business PB Performance and Health. And now we’re tackling the next challenge, moving into our own facility blending physio and strength and conditioning in the one space.

My clinical interest lies in the sporting and rehab spaces. ACL rehabilitation, shoulder and knee injuries and back pain are all things I have a particular joy for managing. But ultimately I love seeing people improve and get back to doing what they love, irrespective of what their injury is.

Outside the clinic you’ll catch me spending more time working on Olympus (it never ends!), supporting the mighty Collingwood Magpies (feel free to point out my poor taste in team when you come in — you won’t be the first and certainly won’t be the last), and spending time with my wife Liv, dog Ellie, family and friends. And if there’s any time spare after all that, some quiet time playing video games or listening to Metallica.

Lachie Hood, Physiotherapist at Olympus Lifestyle Co

Lachie Hood

Physiotherapist

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)

My interest in physiotherapy started on a footy field, not in a classroom. Growing up in Geelong and playing Aussie Rules and basketball, injuries were part of the deal — and I still remember my first physio appointment for a sprained ankle like it was yesterday. That experience sparked a curiosity about how the body works, how it breaks down, and how to build it back up stronger. It’s what led me to complete my Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at La Trobe University, Bendigo, and it’s what still drives me today.

During my studies, I worked as a sports trainer with the Bendigo Pioneers and the Under 18s at Sandhurst Football Netball Club, giving me hands-on experience treating athletes navigating the physical demands of competitive sport. I have a particular interest and confidence in treating hamstring strains, ankle sprains, and running-related overuse injuries.

When you come in for a session, I take the time to properly understand your injury and your history — no stone left unturned. From there, we move through a thorough assessment and any hands-on treatment needed, with one goal in mind: getting you back out on the gym floor, moving and pain-free, as quickly and safely as possible.

I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every session is built on strength, resilience, and objective data to guide you back to the activities you love — whether you’re an elite athlete or a weekend warrior chasing your next personal best. My job is to help you find out what your body is truly capable of.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find me cheering on the Geelong Cats, playing footy for the Sandhurst Dragons (don’t hold that against me) and I’m always up for a chat about travel, music, or where to find the best feed in town.

Q & A

Common Questions

Can I request a specific practitioner?

Yes, when booking online or by phone you're welcome to request a specific practitioner based on availability.

Do all practitioners treat the same conditions?

While every physiotherapist is trained across a broad scope, individual practitioners often have particular areas of interest — feel free to ask our front desk team for a recommendation.

What are Lachy Gray's and Lachie Hood's areas of interest?

Lachy has a particular interest in sporting injuries, especially ACL rupture and rehabilitation, along with back, hip, knee and shoulder injuries. Lachie's interests centre on sports performance and recovery, complex musculoskeletal injuries, lower limb sports injuries, and concussion rehabilitation.

Are your physiotherapists qualified to treat complex injuries?

Yes — our team holds relevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor and Master's level physiotherapy degrees) and additional certifications including strength and conditioning coaching, with experience across public and private clinical settings.

Will I see the same practitioner for every appointment?

We aim for continuity wherever possible, since your practitioner already understands your history, goals, and progress. Let our front desk team know if seeing the same physiotherapist each visit is important to you.
